Gardens Alive!
Years Prep - 2
Excursion program overview
Children will explore the fascinating world of plants and their seeds in this fun, hands-on program. This program is designed to help children understand plants, how they grow and their different parts and functions.
Activities include:
- “Friends in the Garden” – a short play by our educators with student participation and costumes to introduce the topic.
- Video Microscope Demonstration – Students observe specimens on a projector screen. Plant parts and garden minibeasts are magnified to promote curiosity and discussion.
- Seed Exploration - Students explore the wide variety of seed sizes, shapes and colours in this sorting activity.
- Plant Parts - Students use felt boards and colouring sheets to explore the parts of a plant.
- Worms Up Close - Students have a close up look at compost worms using hand lenses and discover what cocoons and saddles look like.
